Welcome to She. Fully Alive.

I am Dr. Traci Arends. I  founded SHE. FULLY ALIVE. LLC in 2025 based on my research, and my belief that it is critical to care for the whole person in order to create lifelong balanced and sustained health and wellness. This integrated approach, known as the Four Pillars at SHE. FULLY ALIVE considers one's Social Health, Spiritual Health, Physical Health, and Mental Health. The timing of the launch is partially in response to the uncertainties and disruptions that are exceedingly prevalent day-to-day, on social media, across news outlets, and my desire to be part of the solution.  Suffering is universal, and people tend to isolate in times of uncertainty, yet do not prioritize solitude.  These responses only exacerbate the fear-based mindset and sense of dread, leading to potentially harmful behaviors and attitudes.

Raised by my chronically ill, single mom who struggled with depression (and did the best she could), physical activity, nutrition, a need for community, and spiritual well-being have always been an important part of my life. But it was not until I experienced my own personal debilitating reality in adulthood that I knew I needed to reassess my beliefs and practices. At the height of this season of loss, I began to explore ways to heal and find healthy relief from the lingering grief, depression, and harmful maladaptive patterns.

Onward and Upward

Over a decade later, as I continued my journey of healing and growth, and through my over two decades in the field of education working with adult learners, I realized others were in need of these tools and perspectives. This fueled my desire to pursue a certificate in Spiritual Direction, followed by a PhD in Education focused on personal transformation. I learned that my transformative experience was rooted in the research, in terms of the conditions needed for lives to be transformed and health and wellness to be sustainable.

I encourage you to take the time to read through the site thoroughly and approach the content with an openness and a lens that recognizes the integrated nature of all of the Four Pillars to our whole-person health. The teachings and practices of the SHE. FULLY ALIVE framework will not remove all suffering. However, there is considerable evidence to support the notion that, in the absence of effective tools and amid unresolved traumas, individuals likely exacerbate their own suffering and increase their potential for self-sabotage.  Our perspectives, histories, and practices have a considerable impact on how we process our current reality.  Rooted in hope and a belief that people can heal and grow, my goal is to support transformative engagement in the Four Pillars, leading to whole-person health through an integrated approach to health and wellness.  It is never too late.

In Peace and Gratitude,

Traci Arends, PhD.

The Four Pillars

I found that I needed all Four Pillars of the SHE. FULLY ALIVE framework to become whole. While the Social Health and Physical Health Pillars were critical, I could pursue those externally and with others.  The Mental Health and Spiritual HealthPillars required me to look inward and engage in the inner work, often in solitude. Many of these experiences were new for me. I also found that moving forward required me to get to know myself better through a deep exploration of not only my childhood (internal family systems) but also the generations prior to my birth (epigenetics and brain research).
